It's funny, how we've seen Google search terms pop up with: saddleback,
saddle plan, saddle tent, side saddle tent and my
personal favoriate, "saddle-up" tent (yee-haw!). For a brief
marketing moment, we questioned our brochure, our postcard and other
marketing materials. Had we made some sort of mistake or misspelling?
A Saddle (and Horse)
we haven't run across any typos in our marketing materials. The term Saddlespan
or Saddle Span is just not common enough (or the word itself is
not memorable enough) for folks looking to rent or buy a saddle span
structure or tent. I'm sure, after the meeting and greeting or phone
conversations, the potential tent renter thinks, "hey, what was that
tent called again? Saddle-something?" Then they Google to the best
of their recollection and voilá! Euphoria Events gets its monthly report
that lists some interesting search terms, as mentioned previously.
Saddle-shaped Potato Chips
The Big Swoop
With a saddle span structure, the shape of the tent defines the name. As a matter-of-fact, we don't really like calling it a tent and would much prefer to stick with the more
solid-sounding term, structure. However, that's a bit unreasonable it's
probably not the best idea to list our company as a "structure rental"
company. Too confusing. The saddle span tent was designed some years
ago. Its dramatic swooping shape has artistic lines that mimic the
graceful curves of a saddle. Only, this saddle involves a more
exaggerated shape and is powerful in its size. If you ask my kids,
they'd say the structure looks an awful lot like a certain potato chip.
The saddle span structure (also called an Arabesque tent) was originally
designed in Canada. The definition for saddlespan (as outlined in freepatentsonline.com):
"Two curved arch rib supports are provided
with a pre-shaped flexible membrane cover attached to the ribs; the
ends of the ribs are hinged on a common locus at base supports. When
erected, a saddle shaped roof is formed to which contoured end walls may
be added. Additional modules may be joined to the structure so formed,
by applying a pre-shaped and independent fabric membrane or cable net
attached by rings to only each of the two structure base pivot axles..."
It's All About the Drama
We know a lot of individuals, event planners and companies are drawn
to the more common marquee or pole tent structures. We also know that when folks
see our saddle span structures,
they can't help but notice what an amazing sight our structures offers.
The drama, the flair and the coolness factor make our saddle span tents
more than just an event...they bring it to the next level. This is
especially true for musical events (band shells), weddings, wine
tastings, ceremonies, corporate picnics or events or any other kind of
